The minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration (Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey) in a letter to the National Service Secretariat communicated a decision to indefinitely suspend the deployment of National Service Personnel.
In the letter, the Minister recognizes the role of her outfit in supporting the National Service Scheme for the overall contribution to the development of the country, however activities of some past personnel has necessitated this decision.
She described the actions of the past personnel as challenges to the highly sensitive and security-nature of the work of the ministry and also implied that there were other challenges the ministry had with the personnel.
It can be noted that she expertly avoided the specifics – what the actual challenges were and whether they had actually attempted to solve the challenges.
